He has also served at Brothers and Sisters In Christ Serving (BASICS) in Milwaukee, a Christian organization that provides ministry outreach leadership and resources to prepare indigenous leaders to support sustainable community development by integrating spiritual, social, and physical aspects into the change process. BASICS is the parent ministry of The Captive Project.

Richard also served as the Urban Affairs Coordinator for Converge Great Lakes, a district office of Converge Worldwide, which offers essential ministry services to grow spiritually, reach nations, plant churches, develop leaders, mobilize churches, show compassion, and live generously. Richard’s focus is on penetrating marginalized communities with the Gospel to glorify Christ and change the city for the kingdom of God. He believes that concentrated discipleship will allow for a transformation within the person, helping them to make decisions that promote non-violence in the urban community and emphasizing the importance of making disciples to change their community and city.
